Received this day. at 8 53 a.m. London, March 31. Lieutenant H. C, M. Douglas, of the Army Medical Corps, has been awarded the Victoria Cross for gallantry at Magersfontein. Captain Crawshaw, of the New Zealand Mounted Infantry, has been discharged from the Hospital, and has resumed duty. The Imperial Light Horse at Uteeht captured fifty waggons. Baden-Powell has stopped recruiting for police. Eleven thousand men are enrolled. A large proportion of English recruits are gentlemen or farmers. There are 300 commissions. » The Templemore with the Queensland Contingent has arrived at Capetown. Bruce Hamilton on Wednesday had a running fight near De Wetsdorp for 20 miles with Fourie who had escaped before the British had completed the turning movement. The British captured many cattle, horses and carts. Commandant Englobrech has surrendered to French. Eeceived this day at 12 40 a. m, London March 31. French reports that between the 16th and 27th his force killed and wounded 17 Boers captured 51 and 93 surrendered. The Boers wrecked a train near Pan. 200 Boers in attempting to loot were repulsed leaving six dead and one wounded, The Templemore with Queensland contingent arrived at the Cape and proceeded to Port Elizabeth.
