The Yorks' wei-e greatly interested in the trial of the Orennan torpedo at the month of Yaletta harbor. The Duchess operated the mechanism used in discharging the torpedo by which a boat was destroyed two miles outside the harbor. A grotesque water carnival was arranged by the blue jackets of the British war ships which was a success. Huge canvas models of the elephant, kangaroo, dodo, crocodile and dragon, were illuminated from within and d'sported on the harbor which the ilect illuminated by means of their search and other electric lights.
