French's Sweap of Transyaal.
Received this day, at 8 24 a m. London, March 27. (J„neral French with Majnr-Goneral Dartncli's Column, arrived at Vryheid. S nee French commenced the sweeping movement in Eastern Transvaal, twelve hundred Boers havo been killed, wounded, and captured; seven guns, a thousand rifles, 22(!,000 horses, cattle and sheep, and 1,800 wagons have been captured. Lieuts. H. Banks and H. Collettof New Zealand, and J. C.Campbell a Westralian, have been accepted a 3 Commissioners in the Royal Artillery. Sir Edward Clarke, who last year resigned his seat in the House of Commons owing to his constituents censuring him for pro-Boer utterances, now states that the Boers rejection ot the generous terms has altered circumstances, and he hoped the war would be carried to a complete early termination.
