The insciptioa on the Queen’s coffin is in Latin. The following is a translation ; —Here lies the body of the most serene, the most powerful, and the most excellent Queen Victoria by the Grace of God, Queen of Great Britain, Defender of the Faith, and Empress of India, departed this life January 22nd in the year of our Lord, 1901, in the 82ud year of her ago and the G4th year of her reign.

The Government is understood to have under consideration the question of extending the clemency of the Crown to a certain number of prisoners in the gaols of the Colony in honour of the accession of King Edward.
