THIS BOATING ACCIDENT.
[Per Press Association.]
Auckland, This Day,
Reed, one of the survivors of the boating fatality states that the party had been drinking about town. When going off in the yacht a large wave came through the railway wharf causing the dingy to roll. This threw Mary Campbell on to Pert and the boat capsized. Reed is a good swimmer, and the woman Mills could also swim. The others were unable, and when the dingy overturned Mills seized him. The woman Campbell grabbed her and Port took hold of Campbell. All three sank. On coming to the surface Reed loosened his hold of the girl and the others then got to the dingy which sunk. Reed swam to the scow Fiora to try and get help, and told Mills to swim for the shore but she being hampered with clothing was unable to do this. Reed says ho knows no more.
