Fish Poisoning,

MrsKutncr, wife of Daniel Kutner, general dealer, and family consisting of two girls aged 6 years and 18 months respectively, and two boys aged 12 and 10 years were removed to the hospital, late lass night, suffering from poisoning. The cause is not definitely settled, but it is believed to bo the result of eating fish. The patients are progressing favourably. Cruslty to Animals. Wellington This Day. For over crowding sheep in a cart, two men were fined £5 each and costs, at the Magistrates court to-day. The Yorks’ Visit. Wellington, This Day. The Premier has mado a suggestion that as it will be impossible for the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall to visit the inland districts, those should be represented by construction of arches in the largo centres ; say for instance in "Wellington an arch should be erected representing Hawkcs Bay and ouo each for Wairarapa, Manawatu,'Taranaki and Wanganui. The idea is that the various local bodies and leading and influential citizens should combine, and each body have a representative arch erected at a cost that would then scarcely be felt, whilst it would add to the success of reception and bo moans of advertising the products and manufactures of the various districts. At a meeting of the Citizens Committee it was stated that £4OOO was required for an adequate di iplay on the occasion of the visit of the Oormvalls’, and it was decided to ask the City Council if it was prepared to sanction the expenditure. The City Council has decided to interview the Premier to ascertain how far the Government will assist.

The Martin Scandal. Christchurch, This Day
In connection with tx-Judge Martin’s scandal, Judge Donniston, on the application of petitioners counsel, decided that the divorce trial shall take place at the next sittings before the Judge alone.
