Fatal Bow in a Boat. Auckland, This Day. Late last night, Jas. Perk, Win. F.eid, May Mills, and Mary Campbell left the jetty in a dingey to go on board their fishing boats. Shortly after leaving, it is alleged tho women began quarrelling, and a scuffle resulted in the boat being capsized. Crews from tho neighbouring vessels picked up Mary Campbell and Win. Held. Both were nearly exhausted. Tho other two were drowned. Dunedin Fire. Dunedin This Day A fire this morning completely gutted tho chocolate and starch rooms of the Phoenix Confectionery Coy in McLaggan Street. The fire was confined to the top story front building. Insurance on tho Phoenix factory is dUO.COO. Tho following offices are interested Royal Exchange, Phoenix, Northern Union, South British, Commercial Unim, North Queensland, Alliance Liverpool and London. Imperial, North British, New Zealand Guardian and Standard.
Tha Midland Railway. Wellington, This Day. The Mildnra left for Auckland last night. The Minister for Public "Works has given instructions to put in hand at once the extension of the Midland Railway to Tadmorc, a six-mile section under the co-operative system. Divorce Court. Justice Cooper granted decrees nisi this morning in the cases Thomas Gadsby v. Mary Gadsby, Thomas Collier v. Collier, G. Gronhand v. Gronliand and Stiggiiis ; W. E. Robertson v. A. S. Robertson, all being husband’s petitions. The Governor’s Party. Auckland This Day. Lady Raufurly leaves London on March 21st She comes via Sydney reaching New Zealand on May 10th. Lord and Lady Ranfurly receive the Cormvalls here and then go "to Wellington via West Coast to meet the Imperial party there. The Governor left for Rotorua this morning andthence goes to Paurangaand Paeroa cn route for Wellington via New Plymouth. He visits Mokau. Y/estporfc Coal. ' Nelson, This Day. In reference to the Premier’s statement (hat the Westport coal cost only ton shillings per ton at Westport wharf, the Mail i« informed on good authority that the price of screened coal is nearer one pound, than ten shillings at the Westport wharf.
