Melbourne, March 9. The attendance was largely curtailed The results arc: —

All-AgedlStakes— Maltster 1, Advance 2, Finland 3. Betting—s to 4 on Advance, 3 to 1 Maltster, <5 to 1 Fmdland. Advance was in the rear the earlier part of the journey, but rounding the turn he he began to come up. Maltster took the lead entering the straight, Advance close up. The two fought out tho home run. Advance, however, was beaten before the distance owing to indifferent riding, while Maltster responded to the boy and won a good race by a length, Finland four lengths further off. Time 144 Unplaced Two Year 01.1 Stakes—Cretonne 1, Bonnie Chiel 2, Austrian 3. Betting—o to 4 Bonnie Chiel, 5 to 2 Cretonne. Won by six lengths. Time, 12i.

Place Handicap—Cicero 1, Yocalist 2, Bride 3. Betting-3 to 1 Bride, 8 to 1 Cicero. Won by one and a half length, Vocalist six lengths in front of Bride. Time 2 39?.

Steeplechase—Hayseed 1, Spieler 2, Sealing Wax. Betting—s to 4 Hayseed, 4to 1 Euro. Betting—s to 1 Keyless, Btol So Long. Boreas, who kept a good position throughout, was second to Iloscomoion on entering the straight, but So Long came with a rush and won by a length and a half. There was a fair attendance and good weather at the Westport Jockey Club's becond day's races. Results : Westport Coal Company Handicap— Petroline 1, Seabreeze 2. Two other starters. Time, 1 22; div, £2 4s. Charleston Handicap Millstream 1, Skirmisher 2. Two other starters. Time 1 54 ; div, £2 16s.

Buller Handicap—Petroline 1, Haria 2. Ono other starter. Div £1 16s.

Flying Speculator 1, Country Maid 2. Tho only starters. Country Maid had a spill, but no damage was done. No money was put through the machine.

Mokihinui Handicap Petroline 1 Skirmisher 2. Only starters. Time, 153 div, £llos.

County Plate—Haria 1, Speculator 2. Only starters. Speculator ran a wide course, and the stewards decided to hold an inquiry. Time, 1 :is; div ; £1 18s. Forced Handicap—Sanfoin 1, Token 2. Only starters. Div, £1 4s.

The club have decided to disqualify Rainbow, the rider of Speculator, for three months, and Stratford (the trainer) for six months for inconsistent running at yesterday's races.
