BACON CURER’S BANQUET.
(per press association.)
Woodville, This Day,
The lunch given by tho directors of the Bacon Factory was a great success. About 500 were present. The menu was entirely of the products of the factory.
O'Meara, member for the district, proposed tho toast of the bacon industry, and said he intended to urge the Government to acquire a large fleet of cargo steamers for tho export of the products of the colony, seas to placo New Zealand on an equal footing with the other markets of the world.
Anderson, ono of tho directors, said Sydney was now the principal market for tho Company’s products, but if Federation closed this market, they would have to seek markets in America, Europe, and Africa, and competition would increase the quality. The dairy industry was toasted and the speakers urged an extension of the industry as more profitable than wool, and one that had done more to advance the prosperity of tho colony than anything else.
