Conningham Divorce Case

The application to attacli a bookseller for publishing a pamplet in the Conningham divorce suit, was ordered to
stand over, the sale of the pamplet having been stopped and a promise given not to issue more till the case was finally disposed of. Joint Commission.
Mr Barton states that the Federal Government asked the Imperial Government to appoint a commission in conjunction with France to in connection with the land claims in New Hebrides.
Island Treaties. The Manapouri from the Islands, reports that the Turanga, with the High Commissioner, has been at Tonga with the object of exchanging with the King the ratification of the treaty negotiated by Mr Basil Thompson last pear.
Opening of Federal Parliament. Melbourne, March 6.
It is expected that about 11,000 Australian troops and 5000 cadets will participate in the Melbourne Federal celebrations.
Defence Scheme of Wnstralia.
Perth, March 6,
Forrest, referring to the Federal Hefence Act, said that he would put tbe defences on a solid footing. Citizen soldiers would form tho basis of the forces. Any permanent army would be as small as was consistently possible.
