Keccivod, this day at 9 5 a.m. London, February 26, During Delislcs march on February 19th the anniversary of the landing of the Nnv South Wales Second Contingent was celebrated in camp with a concert. Addressing the men, Dclislc declared ho was proud of the Australians whom he regarded as personal friends. New South Wales had every reason to bo proud at her gallant troops who had done more hard work, and done it better than any other body of men engaged in the campaign.
Delisle reached Vosburg on the 22nd. Since leaving the railway at Piequertberg Hoad, within fifty miles of Capetown, the force travelled 500 miles through a country despoiled of provisions and forage for animals by an invading Boer column. They patrolled <lO miles on Sunday.
Brigadier-General Sir Charles Parsons engaged a section of the Cape invaders under Commandant Sclicpcrs near Ciilowmorc, 80 miles south-east of Beaufort West. He site 1 led the Boers out of a strong entrenched position with heavy loss.
Hcrtzog with the Western column of the raiders and 1,500 remounts intended for Dc Wcf, is moving cast towards Kalkbult in Prieska district.
A blue book has been published showing that Botha in June asked for an armistice to consider Roberts's terms of surrender and Roberts promised not to move cast of north if Botha did not move south or west, but Botha refused to give a promise.
