Those drowned in the wreck included Wihlman, (lie American Consul, General Hong Kong and family, C. Dowdall the well known barrister, H. C. Maf lieson, engineer, employed by the Chinese Government, Alfred Hart, a diamond expert from Manila and wife. "William Brander, a member of the London Stock Exchange, was saved by a life preserver.
Latest accounts stale that Captain Ward remained on the bridge until the ship foundered.
