THE WESTPORT COAL COMPANY.

At the anaual meeting held at Dunedin last week, Sir IT. J. Miller mentioned at the Westport Coal Company meeting that a steamer is beiDg built for tho Admiralty to take up the China trade when the Penarth's charter expires. He further said : "Tho new wharf at Westport has been used in loading the Penarth and other large vessels by crano with great success, and the despatch given to steamers is very good. Dealing with the increased output Mr Joachim said:— "The past year has been one of considerable anxiety to tho whole staff owing to tho difficulty of satisfying tho demands of our customers, which wero far in excess of our output. I hope, with an increasing output, this year we shall bo able to meet ail demands.
