Lord Hopetoun submitted the following programme of the Yorks' movements for Mr Chamberlain's approval:—Arrive at Melbourne on May 6th, open Parliament on the 9th, leave on the 17th, arrive at Brisbane on the 20th, leave June Bth, arrive New Zealand 12th, leave 28th, arrive Hobart July lsc, leave 6th. arrive Adelaide 9th, leave 15th, arrive Perth 19th, leave Australia July 2oth. Mr Barton has cabled to Sir "Wilfred Laurier and Mr Seddon asking each to send 1000 troops for the opening of the Federal Parliament. He suggests that half the New Zealand contingent be Maoris.
