At the Divorce Court a decrees nisi was granted in the oases of Alice Harris v. Albert Harris, and Alphonus Buss (Falmerston North) v. Julia Buss.

The Indian Troops.

Gisbobne. February 21.

Glorious weather prevails for tho reception of the Indian Troops who landed at 10. A great number of people are in town, including many natives. Bunting is flying and everywhere a close holiday is observed. The formal reception takes place at tbo recreation ground. The Premier, Ward and party arrived at daylight. Murder. At the inquest on the body of the infant found in Union street, yesterday, medical evidence showed that death was the result of violence ; there being marks of strangulation on the neck.

Federation

CHEtsTonuECH, Febuary 20.

At the Federation Commission Whitcombe of Whitcombe and Tombs. Stationers, opposed Federation and of the Froostick President, federated. Boot manufacturers stated that Federation meant the annihilation of the boot industry in New Zealand.

H. Overton, farmer, and A. Lees, grain merchant gave evidence in favor of federation.

Concealing a Deserter.

Auckland. This Day. George Graham charged with aiding to conceal a deserter of the Imperial trcops was convicted and discharged. Parliament Prorogued. Wellington, This Day. Parliament has been further prorogued to the 18th of April.
