Do Lisle has occupied Carnarvon. Reuter's correspondent state that when Hertzog's commando at Calvinia heard of the death of tho Queen, they trampled upon her portraits with ribald filthy remarks.
Wolmarans, the peace envoy, who arc visiting Holland, says tho Boers accept nothing short of independence. Tho proposal put forward by Sir Edward Clark, ono of the British proBoer leaders will not be acceptable if they contained a vestige of British control over Boers.
W. R. Cremer, member for Hoggerston division of Shorediteh, speaking at Peterborough, declared that Chamberlain grossly deceived the Queen respecting tbc war and causing her death. Chamberlain declares there is not a word of truth in the statement.
