Tho Postmaster General states that tho Joint Purse Proposal in connection with the Pacific Cable was first mooted at tho
Conference hold at Sydney during the Commonwealth festivities which included Seddon. The Proposal did not take any definite’ shape until several weeks later, when the Victorian Cabinet at he instance of Turner decided to approach Queensland and the New Zealand Government.
Seddon has since reported in the affirmative but Philip has been again com municated with.
Should Queensland agree, Victoria will then become a party to the Capo Cable Agreement. It is not known how the Eastern Extension Coy will act in the mait.r.
