Mr Sheath, the Chief Postmaster, has according to tho West Coast Times, received word from Wellington that the Government have decided to establish a Telephone Exchange in Hokitika immediately. Tho work of procuring tho necessary poles, etc., in now in hand. Over 60 miles of wire will be necessary to mako the required connections. The Inspectar of Telegraphs is expected here shortly to supervise tho erection. It is probable an addition to tho present accommodation will be required at the Post and Telegraph office in connection with the Exchange.
