DISASTEROUS FIRE AT DUNEDIN.
[PEE PRESS ASSOCIATION.]
Dunbdin, This Day. A disastrous fire occurred in the Tramway Co's shed, Cumberland Street early this morning. The shed was practically gutted and a dozen cars destroyed. The Company's watchman visited the shed at midnight when everything was safe.
At 2 50 the fire was discovered and had a strong hold. The fire started about the cars which were running yesterday. It is inconceivable how it spread from one to tho other with such rapidity, Nearly every car that was running yesterday was reduced to a mass of iron. Four cars run out were considerably damaged.
The destruction of so much stock will seriously inconvenience the city traffic for some time.
This is the second time the Tramway Co have suffered from fire.
