TOTARA FLAT.
Opening of Erickson’s Hall.
Totara Flat which supports a very large population in its districts has long felt the want of an up-to-date hall in which threatrical representations could be adequately staged and the lovers of the light fantastic enjoy themselves with comfort. Mr Erickson realising this want stepped into the breach, and has erected an excellent hall thirty-six feet by thirty feet, fitted With stage scenery, drop scene, dressing rooms and all the usual accessories. On Friday night last a social was given to commemorate the opening of the building, when about seventy-two couples from various parts of the valley were present. A most enjoyable night was spent, dancing being kept up until three in the morning. Amongst theGreymouth visitors present were Mrs Borjeson, Misses Matheson (2), Messrs G. T. Mess, B. M. Sheedy and A. W. Yarrall (jnr,) The floor was in excellent condition, and the refreshments all that could be desired. Mr Erickson is to bejwarmly commended for his enterprise, and companies touring the Coast will now find at Totara Flat, a theatre second to none in any country town on the coast.
