The following table shows the output of coal from the West Coast companies’ coal mines, and the amounts paid (at the rate of Ad per ton) to the credit of the Coal-miners’ Accident Relief Fund at the post-office, for the quarter ended 31st December, 1900 Name of Colliery Tous cwt £ k. d
Totals ... 116,064 18 £334 6 0 Compared with the preceding period, the return for the quarter ended 81st December shows a decrease of 14,531 tons 6 cwt, but an increase of 81,645 tons 8 cwt on the corresponding period of 1898. aggregate output for the year 1900 was 581,406 tons 3 cwt, against 517.033 tons 7 cwt for the year 1889, and 458,847 tons for the year 1898, showing an increase of 64,372 tons 16 cwt for the past year as compared with 1899, and 122,559 tons 3 cwt compared with 1898. The decrease shown on the quarterly periods is chiefly due to the falling-off at the Brunner and Blackball mines ; Denniston shows a decrease on the quarter of 2,271 tons 2 cwt, but Millerton had an increase of 2, 407 tons 13 cwt.
