Melbourne, February 9. Tho swimming at Ballarat for tho Australian 100 Yards Championship resulted in Cavill 1, Craig 2, Champion (New Zealand) 3. Cavill Jed throughout. Craig beat the Now Zealand champion by a foot. The time was given as one minute two seconds, but it could not be accepted as the time-keepers had to take it from the moment the competitors entered the water. In order to afford Cavill an opportunity of beating Lancs—the Australian fresh water records —an impromptu race was arranged subsequently. Though tiring towards the finish, Cavill succeeded tho time given officially, being 1 3 1-5. Champion ran seconds to Tucker in the Ballarat Handicap. Dunn, of Ballarat, won (lie Blunging Championship) of Australia.
