The Pacific Cable. Melbourne, February 5. Government to-day are said to have re • ceived a cable from the Government of Canada stating that as four Australian Governments have granted the concessions to the Easteren Extension Cable Co in connection with the Capo cable, they washed their hands entirely of the Pacific cable.
Tha Coal Trimmers Difficulty. Newcastle, Februrry 5., The coal trimmers have resumed work. The Railway Commissioners having remitted the fines, explained that they were inflicted by the local officers without their knowledge or consent. The trimmers also obtained a further concession in the abolition of shifts commencing on Saturday and Sunday nights. Federal Politics. Melbourne. February 5. Sir G. Turner handed in his resignation as State Premier, and advised that Mr Peacock be sent for to reconstruct the Ministry, Mr Peacock waits upon the Lieut Governor to-morrow.

In reference to the apportionment of the allowances to the Federal Ministers, it has been agreed that Mr Barton shall receive J 62.100 and the others £1,650 each. In addition to this the constitution provides that Ministers shall receive a Federal member’s allowance of £4OO, but probably some arrangement will be made in regard to the latter amount. Tbs Wreck of the Glen Park. Adelaide, February 5.
The Captain of the Glen Park reported to the Marine Board that a sharp look ont was being kept by two officers with a lookout man, and there was no indication of the rock (which is about four miles from Wedge Island) till the grinding of the ship was felt and she heeled over and settled down so quickly that there was barely time to take to the boats. They were unable to save anything.
