RETURNING TROOPERS.

Greymouth folk cannot bo accused of want of enthusiasm in their reception to returning troopers. Though they have returned singly they have one and all been mot with a hearty reception. On Saturday evening there arriv d Trooper Quinn who was welcomed by the Mayor and an immense concourse of p/ ople, who cheered the invalided soldier heartily. Monday forenoon. Trooper Leslie of Hokitika arrived and was accorded a like hearty welcome, and last night, though but short intimation was given about 1000 people assembled at the llailway Station to meet Trooper Vinsen who arrived by tho train. As the train swept into tho station cheer after cheer ran out in tho evening air with a heartiness there was no denying. Tho Mayor in welcoming the returned and wounded soldier said ho came back with honors heaped upon him ; ho had done his duty to the Empire, and upheld tho credit of the colony. Though sent by the Westport people ho was a Groymouth boy and right glad were they to see his return, to them again, The trooper was then driven from the station on the Fire Brigade carriage, of which body ho was formerly a member, his father being also the capable captain. Young Vinsen still walks a trifle lame, from the Boer bullet that “ found its billet ” in his leg. He, however, is rapidly recovering strength, and it almost goes without saying that tho air of his native land coupled with tho care of his relatives will soon again restore him to full health and strength.
