The net profit of the Gas Company for the year was £27,972, A dividend of 7/6 was declared. The consumption of gas in the city increased 6 per cent. Successful Gas Company.

The Gas Company have declared a dividend of ten per cent, and carry forward £212. The directors hope to further reduce the price of gas during the year.

Drunken Brawl at Dunedin. Dunedin, This Day

Between midnight and one o’clock on Saturday morning, George Gibbs, greaser on the Otarama, was stabbed by two shipmates, named Alex Thomson and Carl Kunski. Gibbs received a severe wound in the abdomen apparently from a knife.

Several men in the forecastle beard the altercation going on which is put down to the men being under the influence of drink. Gibbs was taken to the hospital and died at four this morning.
