Funeral of the Queen.

The Funeral Service. Received this day at 9 31 a m. Lo \don, February 3,
The strains of Chopin’s March notified tho approach of the procession, which first entered by tho three pursuivants with golden tunics, then Earl Roberts and the King who wore the ribbon of the Garter. Other Royal personages followed. Tho coffin which was placed on a purple colored catafalque at tho foot of the altar steps, the clergy and choir preceding.
Mourners, and Gentlemen at Arms were placed near tho catafalque, and tho Knights of Windsor under the organ loft.
Behind the latter were the Royal ser vants.
The King stood at the head of the coffin, and Lord Chamberlain and Earl Clarendon at the foot.
Lord Stewart Earl Pembroke on the right of the King, Earl Marshal on the left.
The ordinary burial service was read enriched by the choicest music-
Archbishop of Canterbury neat the foot of the coffin read the prayer and pronounced the benediction.
Bishop Winchester read the lesson. Between reading the two collects the choir sang with touching beauty. Ihe King at Arms proclaimed the sty le and titles of the departed Queen, Sphor’s Anthem “ Blest are the Departed ” was rendered.
The service concluded with Beethoven's March.
Tho immense congregation quietly departed.
The coffin was then removed to the Albert Memorial Chapel. The Duke of Clarence and Duke of Albany’s coffins will bo removed from Frogmore privately on Monday. The King has conferred a Grand Crons Victoria upon vioe-Admiral Sir John Fullerton, Commander of the late Queen’s yacht and also decorated other naval officers concerned in the funeral arrangements,
A Remarkable display of National
Sorrow.
London, February 5
The crowd on Saturday was tho largest over seen in London, The procession was a triumph of organisation. The Windsor horses refusing to start served to show the readiness, utility and übiquity of the bluejackets. The Times says that the procession was remarkable as a pageant and evidence of the depth of national sorrow. The funeral was perhaps even more remarkable as u demonstration of international sympathy and respect. Nothing quite like such a tribute of personal reverence from the chiefs of governments of almost every State in tho world was ever seen.
At six o’clock on Sunday evening tho Bishop of Winchester conducted a short service in tho presence of the Royal Family. Albani sang two solos. The Queen arranged the Procession. The Queen anticipated the possibility of her death at Osborne, and left a will directing tho naval pageant, which was strictly followed on Friday. The Duke of York is progressing towards convalescence.
Tho Kaiser has conferred on tho Queen Consort tho late Queen’s Honorary Colonelcy of the Prussian Dragoons.
The Kaiser returns homo to-morrow.
There was a total suspension of business in Canada during the funeral.
Several American cities closed their Exchanges.
American Evidence of Sympathy New York, Feb. 4.
President M’Kinley and tho members of the American Ministry, Judges, Diplomatists, Senators, and others were present at the funeral service held in Wash-, ington. The Trinity Church, New York, was crowded with Consuls, representatives of American and Canadian societies, including Andrew Carnegie, 23' clergy officiated, including Archbishop Lewis, of Ontario.
At San Francisco 12,000 attended a memorial service. Tho German warships at New Orleans fired 81 guns, and a service was held aboard, Admiral Sampson being amongst those present.
A salute of 81 guns was fired at the Boston naval yards yesterday.
Memorial at the Cape.
Saturday was observed as a solemn fast holiday throughout Cape Colony and Natal.
The Queen’s statue at Capetown, Durban and Maritzburg was wreathed.
5,000 Indiana gathered at the foot of the statue at Durban and eulogiums on her late Majesty in six of their dialects were delivered.
Bishop of Oxford’s Sermon.
The Bishop of Oxford preached at St George’s Chapel before the King and, the Boyal Family yesterday morning taking his text from the 16th chapter of Proverbs, 12th verse. He said ho thanked God the last three years had brought to our consciousness a great element in the active, prompt and sympathetic realisation of the Empire —namely, its unparalled growth, and extension, quickened, vivified and energised by the consciousness of the common life in India, Canada and Australia new born to true vitality. The idea had become a fact. All were pleased that King Edward was called after his greatest ancestor —the First Edward. Let them pray for a sevenfold blessing on the Seventh Edward.
Memorial services wore held on Sun day at all cathedrals and churches.
Foreign Memorial Services.
Queen Olga at Athens and the Khedival Princes at Cairo, the representative heads of the State, Ministers and Ambassadors attended the English services at other capitals.
There was a similar attendance of local authorities and princely visitors in every Consular district and all the health resorts, All creeds joined in the services in Canada, the other colonies and India. A parade of British and foreign troops was hold at Pekin, and the English service was*Conducted, at which there was a representative attendance.
The King has decided that the public shall be admitted to the’ Park to see the remains transferred from the gun carriage for removal to Frogmore at three o’clock to-day.
St Petersburg, February 4.
The Czar and Czarina attended the funeral services in the English and American churches in St Petersburg.
