AFFAIRS IN SOUTH PACIFIC.

Sydney, February 2. The Hon. Mr Seddon and Mr Barton had a conference in reference to the New Hebrides and Fiji, and a satisfactory discussion on matters relating to the Pacific Islands took place; but the course of action to be taken has not transpired.
The Hon. Mr Seddon, Sir Wra Lyne and Mr Mills conferred in respect to the Vancouver service, and an improvement in the steam service in view or bringing New Zealand into closer relationship with Federation.
