GOLD DREDGING NOTES.
The secretary of the Warcatea Gold Dredging Company reports (hat tlio contracts for machinery are being pushed on with all possible speed, and that the contract for the pontoon has been let. At a meeting of directors of tho Grcj River Extended Gold Dredging Company, Limited, held at Christchurch on Wednesday, it was resolved to at once proceed with the construction of a dredge capable of dredging {ssft. With this object in view, Messrs Cutten Bros., the engineers to the company, have been instructed to prepare plans, and call for tenders. A cull of 2s per share was struck. The pontoon of the Han Ilan Creek Dredging Company, which is situated near the Blue Spur township, was launched Saturday. A largo portion of the machinery which came from Luke’s foundry in Wellington, is already at hand, and the engineers arc ready to commence this week. The pontoon and machinery fur this claim are 'expected not to exceed t'1,200 and it is confidently expected 'hat the returns from this dredge ore likely to be very good.
