Greymouth Evening Star, AND BRUNNERTON ADVOCATE. WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 30, 1901. A DAY OF MOURNING.
In order that our staff may join in the general mourning on Saturday, there will be no issue of this paper on that day. The leading journals in the colony have agreed to this course, and it is believed that aii Business will be entirely suspended on that day.
His Worship the Mayor, Mr Mathieson, is expected to return to town this afternoon, when he will make definite arrangements in regard to observing Saturday as a close day of mourning. "We may state that at present the business people are arranging to close on that day. If the day is observed as a full day of mourning, Mr Piper will run a late train on Friday night similar to that now run on Saturdays. This will enable country people to come to town and secure their usual purchasers. An official notification will be made on the matter to-morrow.
