THE BUILDER'S CONFERENCE.

Christchurcii, January 28. At tho Builder's Conference this afternoon it was decided that the Council take into consideration the uniform set of the conditions of contract for the whole colony and the letting of Government contracts under the same conditions as private contracts.
That also, the conference represent to Government the injustice contracts suffer under tha Contractors' and Workmen's Lien Act, and that contractors should have a first lien on the works contracted for.
A motion was passed that notice be given by the different associations to the architect.
That compensation be paid to the lowest tenderer in each case where the work tendered for does not go on. The Council was asked to consider the question of taking out quantities and the endeavor to bring about tho adoption of the system in Australia and elsewhere where quantities are supplied.
