Verdi, after two days' illness. All the Italian theatres are closed. Misappropriating Trust Money. London, January 27.
Julian T. B. Arnold, solicitor, was sentenced on two charges at the Old Bailey to seven and three years in gaol respectively for misappropriating trust money. Thomas B. Sismey, partner of Arnold, was sentenced to 15 months for conspiracy to defraud.
John Greenfield, another solicitor, presented himself for sentence at the Old Bailey on a charge of the misappropriating of a client's money, and was sentenced to 12 months. Disastrous Fire. London, January 26. A Beuter despatch announces that the wholesale business quarter of Montreal was destroyed by fire, including the Board of Trade buildings. The damage amounts to five million dollars.
