THE ANGLICAN SYNOD.
(per press association).
Napter, This Day.
The Primate in opening tho Synod made a feeling in reference to the great loss the nation had sustained through tho death of tho Queen. Touching on Scripture reading in schools, he said, the London Board of Schools permitted the Lord's Prayer, Ten Commandments and Apostle's Creed to be taught in school hours. He could not see why the same teaching could not be given in the New Zealand Government schools. He deplored the death of missionaries in China but was opposed to sending a singlo woman labour into heathen lands not subject to British rule. Ife paid a tribute so New Zcalaed for her response to the Empire call in respect to South Africa.
