TRANSVAAL RAILWAY SWINDLE.

Last year judgment was given by the Brussels Court of Criminal Prosecution in a case instituted by Leyds, the Transvaal representative in Europe, against Baron Oppenheim, his brother, and four other persons in connection with tho promotion of the Selati Railway Company in Belgium to build the Selati Railway in the Transvaal. ThetwoOpp nheims and their advocate, Henri "Warnant, wore found guilty and santenced to one year's impiijonment. Terv/ague was ssntenced to six months' imprisonment. Louis Warnant and Braconnier were acquitted. On appeal to the Brussels Couit it confirmed the acqu :tal of Louis Warrant and Braconnier, but increased the sentence passed on Eugene Oppenheim to three years' imprisonment, Henri Warnant to eighteon months.
