Nelson City Council. Nelson, This Day. The City Council lias decided to take a vote of the ratepayers on a proposal to borrow £IO,OOO for improving the water supply. £15,(300 is to be devoted to paying off the present loan. The estimated cost of the new works is about £30,000. A Serious Accident. A young man named Diehard Ward was seriously injured yesterday afternoon by a fall of earth at the quarry at which lie was working in. The injuries consist of severe cuts and bruises and dislocated hip. Nearly twenty tons fell. Two other men, who were working with Ward, had a narrow escape. Imprisoned for Sly Grog Selling. Dunedin, This Day. Patterson, Bain, Allan, Mae Donnell, and Vial (junior), all who pleaded guilty to sly grog selling in Balclutlia, were sentenced to ten clays’ imprisonment in Dunedin gaol.
