London, January 15. The wool sales opened brisk; merinos advanced from 5d to 7-i-d per cent. A hitch occurred with the Lonion Globe arrangement with tho creditors. Some refused to accept the composition which, it transpired, was only ten shillings in the £. London, January 16. Messrs Balme, Buxton and Jaeomb's joint catalogue comprised 7,826 bales. Fhere was a crowded attendance of buyers. A good selection of merinos was offered, for which there was strong Continental competition at 5 to 7? per cent •move the November rates. Crossbreds wero in less demand —fine from par to 5 per cent advance, medium low and unchanged. The Union Bank dividend is 7 per cent and the reserve £25,000, carried forward £22,189.
