Tho Thames Drainage Board. Auckland, January 16. G. S. Kissling and F. Earl, solicitors of tho Thames Drainage Board, waited upon the Hon. J. McGowan in connection with tho stoppage of the pumping at the Thames. The proceedings were private, but it is understood the Minister, while fully recognising the gravity of lhe presont position, could not indicate definitely what steps should be taken by the Government until the Warden gives a decisive answer on tho question of the Board's power to recover contributions. Should that decision be adverse to tho Board, Mr McGowan was of opinion the Board would not be left without power to carry on its operations.
