TESTIMONIAL TO DR JAMES M'BREARTY.

The following is a copy of the testimonial given to Dr M'Brearty by the Trustees of the Arrow District Hospital on his departure from Arrowtown : —• To James "Wilson M'Brearty. Esq.. F.E.C.S., E. It gives us much pleasure in bearing testimony to the most excellent manner in which Dr M'Brearty has fulfilled the position of acting surgeon supcrintendani to the Arrow" District Hospital and medical officer for the district during the past ten months. His professional skill, his zealous attention to duties, and the marked success which has attended a large number of operations and cases which have come under his hand convinces us that opportunity will sec him in the front rank of bis profession, no matter where his sphere of operations maybe. Besides his undoubted ability. Dr' M'Brearty's. kind, sympathetic, and gentlemanly disposition has . endeared him to all with whom he has come in contact, and in Dr M'Brearty the profession have a gentleman whom they may well be proud of in every way. In addition to the control of the hospital, Dr M'Brearty's duties have been spread over a large area, including Macetown, Bullendalc, Wanaka, and surrounding districts, and from everywhere we have heard of nothing but the highest of praise respecting his ability. The relations between Dr M'Brearty and the Trustees have been of Hie most cordial nature, and while expressing regret; at his departure, the Trustees extend to him their best wishes for his future happiness and prosperity. Here follows the names of the Trustees of the Arrow District Hospital: —James Bevin (chairman), Peter Butel, John Allan. E, J. Cotter, W. M'Kibbin, T. M'Donncll,. G. D., Baird, E. M'Dowell, J. L. Jopp. sth December, 1900. Dr M'Brearty was the recipient of the following gifts at the farewell social tendered him :—Silver cigarette case, amber holder enclosed in silver case, silver match-box, gold sovereign case, with monogram on each and enclosed in a case bearing the following inscription : "To Dr M'Brearty from Arrow friends; Dec., 1900."
