DUKE OF NORFOLK'S FOLLY.
(per press association.—copyright.)
London, January 10. The Rome newspapers are inflamed, and consider the Duke of Norfolk is abusing hospitality, and has incited Italian Catholics to disloyalty, and are confident that the British press will disavow his action. * The English newspapers in relying show that-Britain for a century has been a supporter of Italian unity. The Times censures tho Duke of Norfolk's tactless violation of diplomatic etiquette in inviting Currie to a reception whereat ihe healths of 'he Queen and the Pope were drunk and King Victor's ostentatiously omitted. The Duke's going to South Italy is interpreted as a British Catholic reply to tho malevolent abuse of the Continental clericals towards England. It is unfortunate that he prejudiced a praiseworthy and patriotic action by the most odious religious intolerance and gross tactless towards a friendly dynasty to the nation. .
