A shipment of half a million salmon ova arrived by the Sierra to the order of the New Zealand Government, in charge of Mr. Lambsons. superintendent of the Baird Salmon Hatchery, California. The ova appear to be in good condition. Mr. Ayson, Inspector of Fisheries, met the steamer bore and took charge of the shipment, which will be sent to the Government hatchery at Halcateramea, Canterbury. New Zealand Insurance Company. The New Zealand Insurance Company’s balance-sheet for the year ending 80th November, 1900, is published. The net revenue is £’360,399; the credit on the yra-’s transactions, including the balan, o brought forward from the previous pear is £’32,290. The available balance, after paying an interim dividend in July last, is £72,290, which the directors recommend to be appropriated as follows :—Transfer to reserve and reinsurance funds, £35,000 ; dividend and bonus for the halt year at 3s per share, £15,000 ; carry forward to new account, £22,290.
