THE CHINESE WAR.
[BY BLKCTRIC TELEGRAPH.—COPYRIGHT.] [PBR PRESS ASSOCIATION-] London, January 5. The Admiralty reports that the Barflour’s was a minor disturbance, implicating only a few and was repudiated by the remainder of the crew. Three are under arrest. The Times Hong Kong correspondent says that the incident was exaggerated ; but the ill-will of the crew towards certain officers calls for investigation. The Times Pekin correspondent states . that Britain’s complacency led Eussia to claim possession of important Shanhaikwan workshops and the retension of half of the Shanhaikwan-Tientsin railway rolling stock for the Niuchwang section of the line, and are holding a lieu on the Tientsin railway within the city wall to cover the cost of repairs and transport. The Daily Express says that if Count Yon Waldersee accepts the conditions, the railway to be transferred by him will be retransferred to the British. The cruiser Blenheim is ordered to relieve the cruiser Undaunted on the China station, and the cruiser Argorant will bo added to the British squadron on the station.
