What on earth have the Takaka folks been doing that they have not had erected before this proper heacons and guide lights to direct their shipping by night as well as by day, suppose you did send in a petition and did’nt succeed, are you going to sit down and let things go to the bad without another effort, rouse ; up that energetic member of ours, (where is he?) you only want to g: the proper way about it and you are sure to win, with the amount of shipping now trading to your port, it is woise than ridiculous for it is criminal, to think that you have not got proper guide lights in fact that you have no lights at all to guide your shipping, ask yodr County Council to move in the matter, they can do a lot if they like-
I.i Blenheim, Moses Fear, S, F McNab, P McDonough, and W Bagnall were on 'Thursday last charged that, ’’on the 2nd September last tln-v did maliciously and unlawfully administer or cause to be administered to one Charles F Horton, a certain noxious thing , viz, croton oil, with intent thereby to annoy the said Charles I*l Horton. The evidence was then taken.
The Bench withdrew for a few minutes and, on their return into Court. Mr Turnbull said they had gone through the evidence, case was a fit oDeto be sent on to ajury, and. they would therefore commit the four accused for trial at the next sittings of the Supreme Court at Blenheim.
