Manganui Education Board
The Board resumed at 9.30 yesterday morning, there beiug present — Meaars G. H. Bridge (Giuuruiau), J. \V. Baker, B. C. Robbius, F. M. Spurclle, H. Sauson, F. Pirani, F. Y. Lethbridge, Adauus and Rev. J. Ross.
Tenders — The Building Committee was authorised to accept tenders for Pih'ima (residence), Taihape school, Fraser road, and to arrange with architect as to date.
Palmerston North Technical Classes — j A tatter was received from the Education Department, Wellington, that the sum of Ll6 2s had been passed for payment to the credit of this Board's account, the Minister having decided that the Department will bear the cost of a second class ticket for the Instructor of the Palmerston technical classes. Apiti — Re grant of LI for stumping. Committee to do the work. Halcombe — Re gravel. L 2 to be allowed for gravel. Feilding — Repairs to fences. Mr Lethbridge to report at next meeting. Pihama A letter was received from the Education Department stating that a grant of L 172 10s will be made to the Board for the reinstatement of the teacher's residence at Pihama on receipt of a certificate that the amount has been expended in the re building of the house.
Feilding — Letter was received from the Colonists' Land and Loan Corporation, Limited, Feilding, acknowledging the receipt of letter from the Board, offering to give £40 an acre for three acres of land on the Kimbolton Road, which the3 7 require for a school site, and asking that a transfer of the same may be prepared. E. Mosarnan, Marton— Be wall sheets. Referred to Building Committee. Martoa cooking class — Referred to Technical School Committee. "Waitotara, re painting — Referred to Building Committee. Kakariki - A letter was received with a list of parents of children who would attend school if one was established at Kakariki, Mr Bruce offering half an acre free of cost for school purposes. Resolved tliat Mr Linton be allowed to go on with the work on condition that the Government make? no grant ; applying for right to build on railway gravel reserve if grant received.— Left with Mr Lethbridge.
Office holidays — It was resolved that tbe Board's offices be closed from December 23rd, 1898, to January 16th, 1899 Hautapu-School to accommodate sixty children and residence to be built. Tenders to be iuvited when assured of title,
