Pohangina Notes.

The road from Woodville through the Malton Block is completed as far as tbe boundary of the Manchester Road District, the Pohangina Council having finished their part. When the Manchester i Board make the road through their territory, our much cut off settlers will be able to go to Woodville, in cases of emergency when our river is too high to cross.

Farmers seem well satisfied with the appearance of their sheep when out of wool, though the shortness of feed last season bas told a tale on tbe wool bales.

A petition is being circulated among the resideuts of No. 4 Line, Awahou, praying that the Council will widen the road on the hill past Spellman's at the sharp curve, which ia quite dangerous for heavy traffic, as horses cannot pull round the corner. Tbe State school treat to be given to the scholars attending the Awabou school is fixed for the 4th January- Mr Holly, who was in charge of a subscription list, eeemed to meet with a liberal re* eponse from all, so that the funds will admit of a good day. There is some talk of taking the children to see tbe sea, either from Foxton or Wanganui. A decision will be arrived at on the 18th, when the committee will meet.

Mr J . C. Maunders is building a house for McKenzie, at Komako, on the site of the one burned down during the bush fires. There ia a most extensive and beautiful view from this place. — Times.
