Wanganui Education Board.

■ o The ordinary monthly meeting of the above body commenced last night, when there were present : — Messrs Bridge (Chairman), Baker, Robbms, Spurdle, Sanson, I'irani, Lethbridge, Rev. Ross, and Mr R. A. Adams, who took his seat for the first time. Appointments — The Board then went into committee to consider appointments and other business. The following business was transacted in committee : — Maugaweka— Messrs Pirani and Lethbridge were appointed to inquire into matters referred to in letters from the School Committee aud tbe teacher. Leave of Absence— Extended leave of absence was granted to Miss Baker of Turakina and Miss Mays of Pohangina, Rongotea— Miss Hill, assistant teacher was granted three mouths' sick leave. Medical certificates — Resolved that before any teacher who has been absent on sick leave resume duty he be required to forward a medical certificate to tbe effect that he is fit to resume duty, such certificate to be en a form provided by the Board, the cost of this certificate to be defrayed by the Board. Playground supervision — Resolved that bead teachers be informed that assistants and pupil-teachers are expected to assist in tbe supervision of the children during recess. Apiti — Appointment of Miss M. Reid, as pupil teacher confirmed. Scholarships ~Tue following awards were made :— Senior : J. C. Nicholson (Wanganui Collegiate), ±'40 a year for three years ; W. B. Cunningham (Wanganui Collegiate), £15 a year for three years ; Edith Mayne (Girl's College) aud Cecil Rockel (Carnarvon) each .£4O a year for three years. Junior : Vernon B. Willis (Wanganui Boys'), £15 a year for two years ; and Coastauce Strack (Hawera), Percy Bamford (Hawera), and Edmund Wastney (Bulls), each £40 a year for two years.— Chronicle.
