The thoroughfar was crowded at the time. Norton drey a revolver, whereupon Meagher made of! and an interesting race eventuated Norton dodging the crowd and watchinj his opportunity, tired at Meagher, bu missed him. Tbe number of people hindered Norton's movements, anc Meagher escaped. Norton was arrestet and remanded. He was bailed, anc immediately issued a warrant for th< arrest of Meagher, who surrendered him self and was also bailed.
