COMMENTS ON THE THIRD TEST MATCH. Telegraph Press Association. CopyrigLt Adelaide, January 18. Ranjitsinhji, when interviewed, said " The catching of the Englishmen was abominable, and they say that I was the chief culprit on the ground. Our fielding was not in reality so bad as is supposed, for the field \vas"on the rough side. The ball dodged away. But the Australians' fielding was superior to ours. In every department of the game we were outplayed. We were beaten in bowling, batting and fielding, but more especially in the bowling — that is the long and short of it, I admit ungrudgingly." After the match McLaren took the best bat he had in his bag and sent it to Kelly, to show his appreciation of the catch which dismissed him. It was a graceful act of recognition. McLaren's batting was the feature of the diiy. The Australians fenr him more than lJanjisinhji. 'Die latter, they say, risks his wicket sometimes, and gives you a show. McLaren docs not. Stoddart says the Australians played vastly superior cricket to that of his team. Later. The fourth test match will begin at Melbourne on Saturday, 29th, instead of Friday, 28th, as originally fixed.
