Complications in China

It is reported tbat the British-China fleet will winter at Waibaiwei, tbe Chinese naval station on the north coast of the Shantung Peninsula. It is stated that China has invited Great Britain to assume the protectorate over the Valley of Yangtze Kiang and Si Kiang, on the West River, The Government officials at Pekin have advised the transfer of the capital to Naakiu, the capital of the proviuce ot Kiangsu, and a former capital of tbe Chinese Empire, sitnated considerably further inward and to the southward than Pekin.
