RAINING CHILDREN.

TO TIIK EDITOR. Sis, — The teachors who took so much trouble to gel op the concert, given the other evening by tbumfteives and the children, deserved tbo tbauks they received, and more. There was only one ot two items that might be improved upon, notably tbat one given by a boy reciter in which he said he would like to engage ia many wonderful enterprises, bat "be durst not " As usual, the objectionable stiug was in the tail end. Where the reciter boasts be would repay his teachers and parents the chastisements they gave him if he durst, i only voice th« sentiment of all the wise parents in the Hall (who experience the difficulties of training their children), by protesting against such words oi fierce insubordination being giTen to a boy to Bpeak out boldly to all his school mates— even in a joke. No wonder, that every time a young teacher appeared on the platform, in discharge of his doty, he was received with derisive cheers by the children. Education, apart from the implaatiug of good moral principals, is like plenty of raiu to a carelessly*kept garden —makes the weed 9 to grow all the , faster ; or like setting all the canvas on a ' ship without ballast— sends her all the 1 more rapidly on the reefs. This much, in spite of the certainty of beiag charged by tbo thoughtless of preaching " goody ism." Parents, your children are giving five, six, or seven hours a day in , cultivating their heads, see to it that they pay some attention to cultivating their hearts during the holidays. Listen , to the eternally wise saying, " Keep tby heart with all diligence, foe out of it are the (great) issues of life." | I am, Ac , Caution.
