Tennis Notes.

FEILDING v. PALMERSTON. The Feilding Lawn Tennis team went ! over to Palmerston North on Saturday ' last to play the first mnch of the season. The weather was perfect for the game nnd the drive OTer and the pl»y were very | enjoyable to nil concerned. The Palm- \ erston Club deserve great credit for the ■ state their courts are in this year, they , are true to play on and look splendid. Although Feilding expected to do better that they did, the win for Palmerston was not altogether unexpected this time. It is still early in the season for Feilding whereas Palmerston opened their courts Bomt weeke before the former and consequently have been able to put in more practice. Some c£ i)i# pl»rers were very Rveniy matched, the finish in or two instances being most exciting. The match Barton and Dyer v. Connell and Fitzherbert proved a close fight, so also did that of Nfiss Fry and Mr Brabani v. >f rs Millton and Mr Webster. Afternoon tea wns provide.! in a pleasant and sociable manner by Mrs Goldingham, ably assisted by other ladies of the Club, which was appreciated by both players and the onlooker* who went from here, more especially after the hot drive over. The Feilding team was pleased at the attention Rhown them by the Palmerston Club and it is hoped the matches will all be as pleasant and sociable as this was. Following are the respective scores : —
