Telegraph. Press Association- Copyright, Sydney, December 15. A few weeks ago the Government received a protest from the Consul of ■Japan against alien legislation. The Consul states that ho deemed it his duty to protest, although not specially requested to do so hy his Government. He pointed out to the Government that Japan desired friendly relations, and proving that it was iv earneßt, it had removed the wool duties and largely subsidised the mail line, and was now taking measures to provide steamers with refrigerating space to take Austra lian meat. H.M S. Royal Arthur, the new flag ship, arrived at Colombo yesterday. Brisbane, This Day. The Government obtained counsels opinion to the effect that U>ere was no ground fur laying a criminal charge against the Directors in connection with the Queensland National IBank revelations.
